ZINA CHARLES, LGSW, LMSW

Zina Charles is a licensed Social Worker in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Florida A&M University and a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration on Criminal Justice from Howard University. Ms. Charles is an Adjunct Professor at Trinity Washington University, a Behavioral Health Assessor with the D.C. Department of Behavioral Health, and a Social Work Consultant with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender: Parental Defense Division. Ms. Charles prides herself on preparing future social workers for the social work profession and provides academic support to students taking Criminal Justice courses. Ms. Charles's practice focuses on serving populations who are marginalized and those impacted by the United States welfare and judiciary system. In addition, she provides individual and policy advocacy to addressing systemic issues in social services and our judiciary system.

Taika Semoins was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in Boynton Beach, Florida. Taika who prefers to go by “Ty” received her undergraduate degree in Social Work with a minor in Criminal Justice and a master’s in social work from Florida Atlantic University. Ty has a passion for helping others and being the change, she wants to see in this world which influenced being a part of Golden Vie. Ty enjoys reading, spending time with family, and learning new things during her free time.
